See Ya Later, 2015!

Business
Isn’t it hard to write “2016”?! Today’s blog is all about a year in review and some things to look forward to in 2016.
2015 marked growth in many exciting ways. Our company’s goals have always been to advance the profession of athletic training and as I sit here to write this blog, I see that we have a lot to be proud of.
Here’s what happened:
We launched 5 excellent CEU seminars including 1 hands-on seminar, 2 lecture seminars one of which was an evidence based practice (EBP) seminar and 2 live webinars. The variety of learning options was so cool and my favorite thing about this was that it was organized by ATs and the ATs were the presenters. We also had 5 CPR classes also taught by an AT (and the American Heart Association). Offering CEUs is becoming a new priority for our company so you’ll see a lot more of this in 2016.
At the MSSADA last March (Mass Athletic Directors Conference) we met many of our high school clients in person for the first time and at our booth we provided education about the proper use of ATs, the fact that all ATs must work under the direction of a physician and other state laws and fun facts regarding our profession.
This year marked our 6th year providing care at the Needham Memorial Day Weekend soccer tournament. For this huge tournament we had 65 ATs watching over 100 fields working a combined total of 1,326 hours.
This summer we had ATs at 35 different summer camps with sports including Football, Lacrosse, Squash, Tennis, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee and more. We also volunteered for Shootout for Soldiers, a 24 hour lacrosse tournament which rose over $25,000 for veterans.
In the fall, we hired 4 new employees who provide excellent sports medicine programs to schools on a daily basis and our new public relations coordinator, Kassie who has been keeping our website and social media pages up to date, helping with events and assisting with admin work.
Also, this fall I personally took a step back from scheduling responsibilities and took a part time job at the Skating Club of Boston. A job like this is what made me become an AT and I am really enjoying my new role.
Our last big event of the fall was another volunteer opportunity called Officials against Cancer. This was a basketball jamboree organized by the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) This event raised money for the American Cancer Society and of course we were happy to volunteer our time for such a worthy cause.
All in all I’d say it was a great year… now onto 2016! Here’s what’s in the works:
A booth at EATA TOMORROW! Come visit us! There we’ll be launching our home study program with a 10% coupon code for CEUs, a raffle for new ATs and ATs who bring a new AT to sign up for our mailing list and info about our company.
CEU HOME STUDIES right from our PAT website. That’s right.. we’ll have CEUs for you from the comfort of your own home!
ATAC is coming back! We took a break last year (the newborn at home made things a little tricky) but this year, we’ll be back with another ATs against Cancer! This is a fun social event/ fundraiser for your and your friends and family at Miller’s Ale House where we get to hang out with our fellow ATs and raffle off a bunch of awesome stuff is coming back to Watertown, MA for national athletic training month. Get psyched!
We’re currently assisting Childrens Hospital with finding volunteers to cover the World Figure Skating Championships that’s taking place at the end of March this year at the Boston Garden. This is a huge and exciting opportunity to work with world class athletes. If you haven’t done it before, it’s certainly a great experience and I highly recommend it. For me these events are more entertaining as there is very little heavy lifting.
We’ll be finding ATs for the Needham Soccer Tournament again.. save the date.
That’s about it for now. I can’t think of more, but I’m sure the fun won’t stop. I’ve got a fun speaking engagement lined up at the NATA which means we’ll probably do a company meet up in Baltimore. I hope you all have an amazing 2016 and hope to have lots of good stories to share with you as the year begins.
See you at EATA? If you aren't coming and you’re interested in CEUs email me at mara@precisionat.com and I’ll sneak you the promo code for 10% off which is good until 1/31/16.
Happy 2016!
