Marathon March

Business

I'm going to start right off by apologizing for the ridiculously long delay in blogging. Fail, Mara! For what is generally one of our slowest months of the year, this March was so busy that I didn't even get the chance to wish you all a happy national athletic training month!

Happy Belated National Athletic Training Month, Everyone!

The main reason for the lapse in posts was that we had three very large events during the 3rd week of March which required a lot of planning.

Event 1: The first event was our first presentation-style CEU seminar, Managing Nutrition for the Informed Clinician. It was set on Sunday morning 3/22. We had four excellent speakers educate athletic trainers about eating disorders, how marketing affects athletes’ nutritional choices, talking to athletes about nutrition and dietary recommendations, and athletes with diabetes. Meghan our education coordinator did a wonderful job recruiting the speakers, finding a space and keeping everything on schedule. I sat back and got educated! Several things made this seminar enjoyable. There was good, useful information and the speakers were all athletic trainers so they knew how to reach the audience and make it applicable. For what could have been a boring morning, it was informative, convenient, painless, and an efficient way to get 4 CEUs. Oh and we had a special “mascot guest” during one of the presentations! The room was pretty warm so we opened a door to let some cool air in and a squirrel came into the room for a couple of seconds to learn about eating disorders! Smart squirrel!

Event 2: Three days later Meghan and I were off to the Cape for vending at the Massachusetts Secondary School Athletic Directors Association conference, MSSADA. Our goals were to raise awareness about athletic trainers and why hiring an athlet

On Thursday they had an event called the “Battle of the ADs” where vendors had special competitions for the ADs to complete. At our booth we had little trivia quiz about Athletic Trainers.

Check it out here! If you get 100%, let us know in the comments section and I’ll enter you into a raffle for a random AT related prize!

Event 3: The week ended on Sunday with Precision AT sponsoring the Young Professional's Seminar at Lasell College. It was another well-run event where our table included info about being a contractor,

licensure and more. Our goals were educating ATs about our company, recruiting and telling attendees about the student opportunities available for Memorial Day Weekend. They had a very positive panel that talked to the students about what life is like as ATs and ways for the students to stand out successfully in the profession. When it all ended, Meghan and I went out for a nice relaxing brunch to celebrate the end of the marathon week.

Now that these events are all wrapped up, we’ve been concentrating on spring scheduling and creating some home study courses for CEUS. I also had a big deadline which I’ll tell you all about in an upcoming post. Around the corner... Memorial Day Weekend Soccer Tournament scheduling... Look out! I'm hoping to have more time available to blog more frequently now that marathon march is over. That’s all for now!
