Slowing Down

Business

Memorial Day Weekend was a HUGE SUCCESS! Thank you to all involved! Sigh of relief; I’m almost ready to take a vacation.

Things are finally slowing down here at Precision AT, but here’s what’s going on:

Renewals: Insurance and contracts all renew this time of year. Most of this stuff requires math and accounting both of which I do not like, but are part of running a small business.

Website work: The plan was to launch a re-designed website early this summer, but then the coverage request form on our client page mysteriously stopped working. I have no idea about the inner workings of websites, so I had to contact my web master to get this straightened out. Now it’s in the hands of the servers and when it’s going to be fixed is a mystery. Gotta love it! In the meantime, we’re working on some nice new designs to launch as soon as possible.

Planning CEU Seminars: Another Injury Care At Your Finger Tips Seminar is in the works! Stay tuned for details on this! Also, we’re looking for ATs to present at an EBM seminar later this year. If you’re interested in presenting on any topic backed by research, please contact me. We love to provide: “CEUs for ATs Presented by ATs.”

Resolving Summer Camp Details: Don’t you love when you email someone a list of 5 questions and they write you back with answers to 2 of the 5 questions? Well that seems to be the case with 3 out of every 5 emails that I send. I’m not sure why this happens.

Speaking of Camps and Summer Opportunities….

While we’ll have some tournaments and last minute camp opportunities, per diem emails will probably only be sent a couple of times per week during the summer and jobs will be highly sought after. Why don’t we have as many camps as we have jobs during the school year? There are a few reasons:

1. More schools than camps use our services.

2. Many camps have loved the ATs we have sent them in the past and request those ATs back each year. (There are benefits to being an awesome AT!)

3. First dibs on the rest of the summer opportunities are a benefit of being a Precision AT employee.

4. We only work with great clients who value athletic trainers and our profession. I am not going to go into a camp salary rant as I have many times before, but I will say this: ATs are expected to do much more and have more responsibilities at camps than at non-camp per diem jobs and I feel strongly that camp salaries should be no less than regular per diem rates. Athletic Trainers of MA feel this way too and here is a nice updated letter. This letter is intended for educational purposes for both athletic trainers and administrators.

Do not fear… there will definitely be camps and tournaments emailed this summer, but please know that if you are replying to a job email about a camp, you’ve got a lot of competition. We’ll be as fair as possible. Also… fall sports schedules will be coming out (too) soon.

That’s all for now! Hope you all get a little time off to rejuvenate and gear up for camps and then the fall season!
