Class taught by Beckie Brannen ATC CSCS
This fitness class is a dryland strength and conditioning class targeted toward swimming athletes who are serious about improving their athletic performance. Classes will include full body strength and endurance with a concentration on core and shoulder stability. A small class size will allow the instructor to ensure exercises are performed properly with correct form. Sport specific elements and injury prevention techniques will also be executed, and participants will learn how specific exercises directly and indirectly improve athletic performance in the water.
Classes will conclude with guided stretching to help improve flexibility and targeted to decrease post workout muscle soreness.
Please wear something that you can move around in and have a full water bottle or sports drink handy. If you have dumbbells and any resistance band "bring them!" If not, a bag or back-pack with books or canned goods works great for adding some resistance to your workouts. Other ideas are water bottles, milk jugs, laundry detergent containers and soup cans. Get creative or feel free to just use body weight if that seems right for you.
