Gymnastics is a sport which requires not only strength but also flexibility in a mostly skeletally immature athletic population. These requirements lead directly to a variety of gymnastics specific injuries. In this webinar we will review the fundamentals of gymnastics, discuss common injuries (epidemiology, etiology, signs/symptoms, physical exam, diagnostics, treatment, and prevention), and analyze important athletic training tips for coverage of gymnastics competitions and practices. Injuries which will be reviewed include Spondylolysis, Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) of the elbow, Gymnast Wrist, Grip Lock, Patellofemoral Syndrome, Osgood-Schlatter Disease, Sever's Disease, OCD of the talus, and inversion ankle sprains.
