Precision Athletic Training Presents Manual Therapy: The New Cadillac of Athletic Training; an EBP session by Brandon Mitchell, MS, ATC, CES.
The Manual Energy Technique (MET) presentation will educate participants on the principles of METs, the theories of why they were originally developed, and why they have continued in practice among a wide array of health care professionals. It will also provide a background of the anatomy and physiology taken into account when using these techniques. Further, participants will hear current and past evidence regarding the use of METs. Lastly, the participants will learn an evidence based approach on how to integrate METs into practice and the best ways to create a comprehensive program to address all aspects of a patient’s dysfunction to provide the best outcome.
The Soft Tissue Mobilization (STM) presentation will focus on teaching participants the best practice and teaching techniques for this form of manual therapy. Through the literature and clinical practice, STM has shown to be an effective therapeutic tool. Participants should walk away with a better understanding of concepts and principles of several active, passive, and instrument assisted techniques, advantages and disadvantages to each, and finally the ability to identify productive methods to incorporate into treatment at respective sites.
The BOC is requiring 10 evidence based CEUs this year to maintain certification. Work towards this requirement while learning some new techniques!
